An op-amp amplifies the difference in voltage between this two input pins and provides the amplified output across its Vout or output pin.ĭepending on the input type, op-amp can be classified as Inverting Amplifier or Non-inverting Amplifier. Those two differential input pins are inverting pin or Negative and Non-inverting pin or Positive. You can learn more about Op-amps by following our Op-amp circuits section.Īn op-amp has two differential input pins and an output pin along with power pins. LM358, LM741, LM386 are some commonly used Op-amp ICs. There are plenty of op-amps available in different integrated circuit (IC) package, some op-amp ic’s has two or more op-amps in a single package. Different class of op-amps has different specifications depending on those variables. An op-amp circuit consists of few variables like bandwidth, input, and output impedance, gain margin etc. Op-Amps are popular for its versatility as they can be configured in many ways and can be used in different aspects. An operational amplifier is a DC-coupled electronic component which amplifies Voltage from a differential input using resistor feedback.

You can directly download actual size PCB diagram from the link given below.Op-Amp (Operational Amplifier) is the backbone of Analog electronics. The solder side and component side pcb is shown in figure 2 and 3 respectively. The PCB diagram is designed using Proteus 8.1. PCB Diagram of Light Sensor Switch Circuit using LDR and 741 IC This high output drives the transistor in off state and as a result relay become de-energized. However, when light falling on LDR is of large intensity, the resistance of LDR falls and the voltage drop across VR 1 is large enough (more than ½ Vcc). This low output triggers the transistor T 1 and drive the Relay, as a result bulb start to glow. When light falling on an LDR has low intensity (dependent upon adjustment of variable resistor VR 1), its resistor is large enough and the voltage across VR 1 is less than ½ V ref thus output if IC 1 become low. The LDR is variable resistor whose resistance decrease with the increases in light intensity. When output of IC741 is low, the transistor starts to conduct and relay become energized. When output of IC 1 is high, the transistor drives to off state. The switching circuit is designed using a general purpose PNP transistor BC557. If voltage at pin 3 is high, output of IC 1 is also high and it volts at pin 3 is low output of IC 1 is low.
Op-amp 741 compares these two voltage and produce output. Resistor R 1 and R 2 forms a voltage divider network which divide Vcc into two parts thus ½ Vcc volt is available at inverting input.Īnother input voltage are taken from voltage divider network using LDR and variable resistor (VR 1). There are various application of OP-amp out of which IC 741 is configured in voltage comparator mode which compare input voltage level given to two input pins (Inverting and non-inverting pins) and produce the output. on what intensity of light, circuit triggers the load (Bulb). Variable resistor VR 1 is used to adjust the sensitivity of LDR i.e. The LDR is a variable resistor whose resistance change according to intensity of light falling on it. The output of this network is given to non-inverting input as shown in figure 1. LDR with variable resistance VR 1 basically forms voltage divider network.
The resistance rises to several Mega-ohm under dark. When it absorbed light, electron is liberated and the conductivity of the material increases thus its resistance become low.

LDR are made from cadmium sulphide containing no or very few free electrons when not illuminated then its resistance is quite high.
We had used here GL5528 LDR photoresistor, but you can use any module as per availability. The sensor is designed around a LDR and a variable resistor. The circuit of Light Sensor Switch Circuit is shown in figure 1 and is built around very popular operational amplifier IC, light dependent resistor (LDR), a general purpose PNP transistor and few other components like resistor, relay etc.įor description we had divided the entire circuit into three main sections The project basically switches on the electrical bulb according to intensity of light fall on the LDR.Ĭircuit Description of Light Sensor Switch Circuit using LDR and 741 IC
